Caretech Plumbing and Gas are leading hands on the servicing testing and maintenance of Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMV’s) and temperature control of hot and warm water systems.
A TMV is a tempering device which ensures the temperature of hot water is at a safe level.
A hot water system is set to heat water to a minimum of 60 degrees celsius to prevent the growth of bacteria in the water. However, if water was delivered at 60 degrees it could cause burns or scolding injuries, particularly to the sick, elderly, disabled or infants / toddlers.
Whenever a hot water system is replaced or a new one installed, the law requires the installation to be brought up to standard, which may include the installation of the temperature control device. It is important to keep the temperature of the water at the correct level to prevent multiplication of Legionella bacteria.
Thermostatic Mixing Valves are essential in commercial operations such as:
- Aged Care Residences
- Child Care / Kindergartens
- Hospitals
- Schools
- Anywhere that sick, elderly, disabled or children are cared for
TMV’s require regular maintenance inspections to ensure they’re working correctly. A TMV must be serviced by a plumber who holds the appropriate endorsement.
